Our chosen charity for 2009-2010 is Neurocare. Based in Sheffield, Neurocare raise funds for the Neurosciences Department of the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, funding high-tech equipment and the highest quality patient and family care.
Neurocare was formed in 1988 and has since raised almost £1 million to assist with improving the quality of care for patients attending the Departments of Neurology and Neuro-surgery. Donations are used to provide equipment, which would not otherwise be provided by the NHS, to save and improve the lives of patients with a range of debilitating neurological conditions, including brain tumours, strokes, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson's Disease, Motor Neurone Disease, cancers of the nervous system and Epilepsy.
